Jen,
The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center at 2401 12th Street has a collection
of pots from each of the Indian pueblos.Unless there is a feast day or you
wish to gamble, going to a pueblo is not the best place to view pots. There
are a lot of galleries that have wonderful examples of Native American
pottery. The Collectors Guide which is available in hotels, and at the
Indian Pueblo center will list and show you some of the galleries and other
places you might want to visit.
In SantaFe the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on Camino Lejo has
some wonderful pottery.Enjoy your trip. Mia in ABQ

Hi Everybody Who Likes New Mexico Clay!
I'll be going to a little-known, but incredibly good pottery, near the Oso
Mountain Range, in NW New Mexico (about 60 miles south of Gallup). I take my
annual trip and pilgrimage to the Zuni Sanctuary in less than two weeks. The
residents at this commune make pottery, to sustain themselves. Once a month's
worth of bowls, plates, and other dinnerware, as well as decorative pottery
are created, the residents take a truckload to various art shows, galleries,
and other venues, in the "Four Corners" states (Arizona, New Mexico,
Colorado, and Utah). Quite often the truck returns to the Sanctuary empty!
Please contact me offline, for directions to Zuni Sanctuary. The residents
will show visitors the studio, and offer pottery for sale onsite. They
require advance notice, prior to a visit.
Best wishes!
