"Desert Soul"
A pottery workshop by internationally known potter, Tom Kerrigan.
Saturday, August 26, 2000
9 am - 5 pm
Westminster City Park Recreation Center Pottery Studio
10455 Sheridan Blvd.
Westminster, CO
Tom Kerrigan's workshop of demonstrations and slides presents his philosophy
of incorporating aspects of one's "soul-fullness" into works of pottery. Mr.
Kerrigan's works hove been recently seen in the 2000 International
Invitational Exhibition at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow,
Scotland; 2000 Solo Exhibition at the Tweed Museum of Art, Duluth, Minnesota;
1999 NCECA International Exhibit in Columbus, Ohio; 1998n SOFA Navy Pier show
in Chicago, Illinois; and Solo Exhibition, Obsidian Gallery, Tucson, Arizona.
I think of art as physical manifestations of vibrations of the soul. My home
and studio are in the Sonoran desert in Arizona; the desert is a source of
spiritual sustenance for me, and in my body of work, I try to celebrate the
essence of 'desert.' A common thread through all of the work is texture,
which is an element of the desert that excites my tactile sense..." Tom
Kerrigan
