Debbie,
Cobalt oxide is black. To make dry clay workable just pour a cup of water
into the plastic bag it comes in, close it tightly and wait a week. If it
is still too hard repeat the proceedure. Another way of doing it is putting
the clay into a plastic garbage can that has a tight fitting lid, adding
water, closing the can with the lid and wait.Patience is the answer. Mia in

The easiest way I found to make hard clay wet is poke holes in it with a
screwdriver and fill the holes with water. Second best is slice the
clay into thin pieces, dip in water, and put it back together. Both
allow water to reach more surface area and work faster than wrapping in
towels, etc.
