Craig,

Thanks for the response, very useful. I have tried everything I know to
get around this problem and still it continues although not as bad as it
used to be. I am wondering about the possibility that sulphur from the
oil may be the culprit rather than carbon. All the glaze faults
attributable to sulphur seem to apply to the surfaces I have been
getting. However, my money is still on carbon.
I will try what you suggest although I do keep the kiln as clean as I
think possible upto 06 and then clean burn again at 1060C. I will try
turning back the oil and dampering in during salting although I do
already do this but maybe I'm not turning back the oil quite enough.
