Coordinator of Education and Community Programs

Baltimore Clayworks is seeking an artist/educator, proficient in ceramics,
to fill the full-time position of Coordinator of Education and Community
Programs. Employment start date will be September 11, 2000. Responsibilities
for the community programs for under-served children are to develop and
nurture collaborations between artists, community partners, and funding
agencies. The coordinator will be responsible for program planning,
budgeting, scheduling, and working with community artists/teachers.
Experience with low-fire technologies is highly desirable. He/she will also
be responsible for scheduling and coordinating the classes given at
Baltimore Clayworks each year. This includes hiring and evaluating
teachers, managing registration, communicating with other staff, students
and teachers and ensuring that the classrooms are supplied and properly set
up.

Baltimore Clayworks is poised on the cusp of a significant period of growth.
The individual selected will be an integral part of helping Baltimore
Clayworks successfully enlarge its education and community programs while
helping to maintain the personal warmth and inclusivity that currently
typify the Clayworks culture. We are looking for a person with a passion
for education at all levels who will be outgoing and assertive while
displaying persistence, sensitivity and patience.

ceramics, the position requires computer proficiency in Windows word
processing and spreadsheet applications. An employee-owned vehicle and some
scheduling flexibility are a must. The ideal candidate will have some
familiarity with the Baltimore, MD region.

Baltimore Clayworks is a 20 year old, not-for-profit ceramic art center with
a national reputation for artistic excellence, artists'support, and
community involvement. It is housed in two historic buildings located in
the northwest Baltimore neighborhood of Mt. Washington. Its mission is to
develop sustain, and promote an artist-centered community that provides
outstanding educational, artistic, and collaborative programs in the ceramic
arts.
