Hey Folks!
Below is an XRF/LOI analysis I did of Murray's Borate:
SiO2........27.49%
Al2O3.........1.65
MgO...........1.76
CaO.........23.10
Na2O.........4.84
K2O...........0.14
TiO2...........0.05
LOI............12.41
B2O3.........28.56
........total..100.00
As always, I found boron by analyzing for everything else, and then
subtracting that from 100, which is why it totals to a perfect 100%--
hasta la later-

Mary, your analysis is quite different from the one given on the Kickwheel
website:
CaO 26.21
Al2O3 0.50
B2O3 38.03
SiO2 0 29.25
Na2O 6.02

Why is there such a difference, especially with the boron - I am not sure
which one I should use in my glaze software. I don't know much about this,
I just plug in the numbers and depend on the software to figure it out, but
I want to give it the right data.
Thanks, Holly

Hi,
I have two full bags of Murray's Borate. Be happy to sell it to the first=
person willing to pick it up in Alabama. Cheap!
MY experiences with it have been less that desirable and I'm not willing =
to
bend over backwards to make it work. I heard you can add bentonite in var=
ying
amounts?
Of course I have covered this before and asked if anyone had success usin=
g it
at all and never recieved a reply. If any of our claybuds have used this =
and
have promising results please let me know on-list. I would also like anyo=
ne
who has an analysis to let me know off-list or on-list. TIA!
