Over a year ago I came across an article or web site with a description
and photos of a small wood kiln I believe was called "The 60 minute kiln"
. I also believe the article might have been written by an English
potter/teacher.
Any help out there?

It's not specific plans I need as basic info. Maybe this can clear this up.

Would the above diagram be acurate for 60 minute kiln or am I making it
more complicated. The heat is pulled to the back along the bottom up through the
gap in the back and forward again through the stacked put and out through stack.
The length of the stack I know aids the draw but is it just the vertical portion of
the stack
or in the above case the length of the kiln? If I'm not barking up the wrong tree,
how much
gap is needed or at least what involed in determining the gaps? Do you see how I
just need
some of the technical basics to understand what I'm trying to accomplish?

I don't have an answer for that. Maybe you better email Stephen Mills

Hi Kurt:
After musing on the graphics for a couple of minutes I figured it out. The
heat source runs through the base of the chimney under the floor and comes up
the other end and flows back through the stacked pots, toward the chimney. I
have a vague memory of another kiln that worked that way -- the Phoenix???
I love the idea of a small fast fire soda/salt kiln that I can fire often
with a lot of experimental glazes/techniques. and the fellow who sent it to
me ( a New Zealand Potter), says that the salt/soda pots fired in this kiln
in three hours look like a traditional firing.
I'm making this little kiln my fall project. :-) If anyone asks, it's a bread
oven! :-)
