Hello-
I just finished building our first website (free!) on Bigstep.com. If you
have time, please visit and give me feedback. I am brand new to this (and,
of course, I kind of cheated by using Bigstep's templates instead of
learning HTML - but I did get a book and am learning!), so I appreciate any
advice and words of wisdom.
In trying to find how to get traffic to the site, I came across the Open
Directory Project. I think that actually somebody posted it here on
Clayart. Thanks for doing that and I'm sorry I forget the details (name,
etc.) -I've been online so much this past week I can't keep anything
straight. Anyway, I submitted our website to ODP and the bottom of the page
said this category needs an editor, so I volunteered. The category is
"Shopping: Crafts: Ceramics: Pottery: USA". To get there, go to
http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Crafts/Ceramics/Pottery/United_States/
If any Clayarters haven't already submitted your site to ODP, go this page
and click on "Add URL". If you send me an email, I'll be sure to get to
"reviewing" and posting your site ASAP. Your work may fit better under a
different category on ODP. Look around at the other categories first if
you aren't sure. ODP is a "human powered" search engine that has volunteer
editors. It's pretty cool, and they can always use more volunteer editors,
so you can do it, too!
By the way, I haven't posted in a long time. My partner Libby and I
(Stilltree Pottery) are now in the Portland, OR area, since we moved from
California in May.

I have a pair of Libby's rice bowls and they are fantastic! The glaze is
gorgeous, and they are REALLLLLLY light.
