I am just about to redo the door of my olsen kiln,and this morning tried to
order brick and transite, only to be told that transite is no longer
available. At one time I had Olsen's number but no longer have it. Can
anyone on the list give me the number, and/or tell me what might work as a
substitute material. I would really appreciate any help in this matter,
since my heavy firing time is almost here. From Rikki in berkeley, where
the sun is actually shining and it is about 65degrees.Thanks y'all.

Dear folks,=20
please help. I have two old old olsen updraft gas kilns.
we recently moved them into the new studio and i have a problem i've =
never seen before.
the damper guides are getting red hot and warping up and the last of the =
fire. all the reduction gets out , the shed gets hotter than hades, the =
firing is crap.=20
i had my welder friend replace the quide on the smaller kild with =
heavier stock, but i noticed it's getting red also, again.=20
he's coming today to replace the big kiln's quide, but my my i don't =
want this to happen again.
the only thing i did different is when we reinstalled, i put a layer of =
kaowool blanket on top of the kiln....could that be it?
