Roy, I emailed them yesterday asking for the current molecular formula,
weight, loi, etc.
I think you should be able to find them under United Clay. I typed in United
Yellow Banks and kicked up a site, but didn't bother to save it.
If they get back to me this morning, I'll post the formula here on Clayart.
Warm regards,
June

Thank June - I appreciate your help with this - I am almost there - if you
get current data I will be done with it.
I wonder why they don't use the name YellowBank in there specks?

Hi Ron:
I've yet to hear back from United but I did a further check with a search
engine this morning and it took me to a PDF file that contains part of
Minnesota clay's catalogue. You might try calling them at 1-800-ClayUSA
All this file said about the Yellow Banks was that it is an air-floated
stoneware clay --very plastic, with low sulfur content. May be used as a
Goldart substitute. Fires off white with approximately 7% shrinkage at cone 8.
I also remember that at the United site, they listed it as containing Mica.
I went back to Metacrawler just now and called up the page and searched in
vain again. I did find the Material Safety sheet. Here's that information:

Thanks June,
I got a few older analysis which I averaged out. It's a guessing game
sometimes - was the clay made with old or new stock - I tend to feel more
comfortable with the older variations but then I have to decide if they
were accurate to begin with.
I appreciate the trouble you went to - bless you - RR
