HAL'S PEACH BLOSSOM

Reduction
Cone 9-10

Neph syn 166
Buck spar 35
Georgia kaolin 7
Silica 79
Gertsley borate 46
Whiting 36
Zinc oxide 5
Copper oxide 1.45
Tin oxide 3.77
Melting power high
Melter amount low

If glazes in this category contain reasonably strong melters they will be
vitreous. Their high silica content encourages durability and transparency.
Their normal alumina content discourages glaze flow even if strong melters
are present. This is an excellent category for transparent glazes.

Hal,
In the glaze of the week aug 15, can one substitute Kona F-4 for the
Buckingham?

Tom, F-4 is a soda feldspar and Buckingham is a Potash feldspar. You'd be
better of subbing G-200 or Custer for the Buckingham.

Buckingham Feldspar is a potash spar that is no longer mined. The closest
thing to it would probably be Custer spar. Do not substitute Kona F4 as
that is a soda spar.

Good luck,
