All interested in the ceramics of Joan Mir=F3 (1893 =96 1983) should note=

symposium on his work in conjunction with an exhibition at the Gardiner
Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto, Canada, Mir=F3: Playing with Fire (Sept=
ember
7, 2000 =96 January 7, 2001).
Speakers include guest curator Anne McPherson in conversation with Joan
Gardy Artigas, the ceramic artist (and son of Josep Llorens Artigas) who
worked Mir=F3; Toronto writer John Bentley Mays; Joan Punyet Mir=F3, gran=
dson of
the artist; Maria Antonia Casanovas, curator of the Museu de C=E8ramica i=
n
Barcelona; Esther Ravent=F3s-Pons, assistant professor in the Department =
of
Hispanic Studies at York University; Rosa Maria Malet Ybern, director of =
the
Fundaci=F3 Joan Mir=F3, Barcelona; Jean-Louis Prat, director of the Fonda=
tion
Maeght; and Garth Clark, author and gallery owner in New York City. The
symposium takes place on the evening of Friday, September 8 and Saturday,
September 9.
