Recently I purchased a hydraulic press with the idea of doing some =
modifications inorder to make press mold platters etc. I have no =
experience with this particular process. Does anyone have information or =
resources
suggestions that might be consulted? Are there any "ram" press =
operations in clay studios in the greater Atlanta area?

Thanks,

Bob, Ram Press Corporation has an advertising video tape that you can get that shows the operation of several types of presses and their operation, as well as a vacuum glazing device. Worth adding to your collection.
You must buy the tape as I recall....but that may be wrong. Seems though that I paid $10 for my copy.

Anyway, worth having for reference.

Call......they advertise often in Ceramics Monthly. They can also tell you who in Atlanta has their equipment in operation.

Luck.

Can anyone give Ben the Ferguson pottery in Pigeon Forge near Dollywood and
Gatlinburg,Tenn. He and his daughter do hydraulic press pieces. Also John and
wife Ellenbogen at Barking Spider in Penland,NC. are two who are known to use
ram presses. Sorry I know no one in ATLANTA. Tom Dimig,in Columbia, SC may
know someone as when he taught at USC he was very knowledgeable on who was
where. check whowhere.com for addresses
