Grecians, All!

I'll be heading to San Diego August 30th and will be looking for points =
of interest...Especially places where people have clay under their =
nails. Ideas? I'm all ears.

Thanks.

John,
You are welcome to come by our studio in Spring Valley about 12 miles
east of San Diego. Please call first, the number is 619-4613019. I make
functional and decorative pots using stoneware and porcelain fired to cone
10. I do quite a lot of copper red and rutile blues, shinos etc. You can
check out our web page to see if the work is interesting to you:

The San Diego Potters Guild is located in Balboa Park in the Spanish
village, hours 11AM to 4PM every day. There are other studio potters in the
area, the Potters Guild has a list of their members.
Eleanor Murphy has a wonderful shop in La Jolla on La Jolla Blvd called
Sunstone Gallery, phone number and address will be found in the phone book.
If you can go as far as LA, there is a incredible show there that
should not be missed (at the LACMA), a retrospective from the past 50 years
of many of the greats in ceramics... the big names are there starting with
John Mason's big red X at the entrance, Peter Voulkos, Soldner, Leach,
Hamada, all of the usual suspects and many more.

Have a good time in SD and do go to Balboa Park, the joule of the city.

I was born and raised in San Diego - if you want to know about places other
than those that have to do with pottery, drop me an email off list.
