Hi,
I am new at clayart and even in ceramics. I'd like to buy my first wheel.
I've found one on ceramicusa.com. It says:
CeramicUSA wheel
$545.00 wh-cusa-w1/2
A 50 lbs. throwing capacity wheel for less than $550.00 with heavy duty
industrial strength! The wheel has excellent torque at all speeds, powered
by a strong 1/2 hp, AC motor. Wheel speed is changed by a foot pedal or arm
lever which is especially useful at low speeds. Standard features include a
splash guard, reverse switch, bat pins, and a convenient foot rest for your
left foot.
My question is: Does anybody have any experience with this kind of wheel?
Either good or bad.
Thanks a lot.
Marketa

I wnt to Ceramicusa.com site and looked at the wheel. It looks like the old
shimpo or amaco type. One drawback of this type of wheel is that having the
controls close to the sheel means that you cannot stretch out your leg. For
me that is a no no and you might want to consider being that cramped. I
noticed that the prices that were marked on the other brand name wheels are
higher than what I can get through Axner's or Bennett's Pottery here in
Central Florida so you might want to consider calling around to local
suppliers. I believe theat they can offer a larger discount than most of
the on-line stores. Whatever the reason, from the on-line sites that I have
been checking recently for wheel prices, my local suppliers are still
considerably cheaper, even though the on-line advertisers the lowest prices
in the USA. Beth
