wheels/old story

i have used most every wheel made today.
most of the new ones are really good wheels, and
the technology of how they work is mostly the same.

any good electric wheel purchased will get the job done.

the best and most expensive is soldner.
the new lockerbie electric is a great wheel....as good as it gets.
it is so smooth you hardly know it is running.

but, as i have stated several hundred times....day in and day
out, for the dollar spent, or yen, or pound...the brent model c
is the best buy, and you can throw on it for the rest of your life
and never have to repair it. (oh, maybe one belt or a plug in fix.)
it also `fits` a hell of a broad range of folks. (and you can throw
it in your trunk (trunk, what a concept) with just a little help and take
it to demo at the county fair.) try and move a soldner?

if i was going to start a new college, high school studio, well,
i would order 30 brent model c's and my repair time would be
cut to the bone.

and i have had a hell of a lot of wheels apart over the last 40 years.
(i can take a shimpo apart in the dark.)

I agree with Mel on the Brent wheel. It is a workhorse and as reliable as
they can get.
I have a Brent (had it for years) and never have had to do anything with this
wheel. If you want to move it outside to throw, it is heavy, but moveable.
The lockerbie is a nice choice, but it's a monster in size and weight.
I also have a Leach type treadle wheel that I got through Mel and it's fun to
throw on, but it is work to get it going, compared to the Brent, at least for
this 60 year old with bad knees. :-(
