OK, I've waited long enough to make my comment. I think the thing that
bothered me the most was not so much the blow ups, those happen (yes I know
that experienced people can and do fire fairly wet and thick pots without
mishap) but the wrong clay being given/sold to the participants does bother
me. I know I couldn't have told the difference between high and low fired
clays, I'm still learning about the MANY different high fire clays let alone
lower firing clays, and many people attending workshops are as inexperienced
as me. I do feel that the callous response from the workshop directors was
uncalled for. A sincere apology even without compensation would have gone a
long way in trying to make a bad situation better.
