I tested it this way.
I dried my favorite stonware claybody.
two batches, each one 1000 grams.
one batch I added 2% manganese granular 60 mesh
second batch 2% manganese 24 mesh, added water mix well. When the clay was
ready I made some small pieces and fire them.After the bisque you see
nothing.
Than I glazed with different glazes ^6 ox. The clear glazes turned out good.
the others, bad. I believe because the manganese start melt about 1200C.
My conclusion from this test is: To add 0.5 manganese granular, (0.25% 60#
and 0.25% 24#.)Second test was preparing, like the first, maybe a little
less manganese, than wedging uneven into smooth claybody; Result, not nice.
