Well I will be setting up next week at the St Louis Art Fair so if anybody
is planning on being there please stop by and say hello. I'd plead for set
up help but am obviously to disorganized to even find the responding posts
if my Ann Arbor experience is anything to go by.
These street fairs sure are gruesome on the set up time. Didn't know how
good I had it at ol' ACC.......set up the day
before......yessssss.......now this St Louis(btw is it Lou-eee or Lou-iss)
fair ups the ante even more.....set up starts at 11am....well, actually,
the advertized it as noon and when I called up and asked about that she
said no it was llam didn't she put that in the notice.....so I guess it is
just me out on the street at 11am and the one other person from around here
who I told.......anyway the selling and ON SITE JURYING starts at 5pm.....6
hours and my set up usually takes 12.....how did I get into this??????
Well I think how is that I wouldn't ever have dreamed of such a possibility
as that and they didn't advertize it in the prospectus......
So we are skimping on this and that and I will get the place rigged out all
fancy just with hardly any pots and be putting pots out surreptitiously all
that evening. Ist day of sales is 5pm to 10pm. Who wudda thunk it.
A t least they give you some storage space behind your booth. At Ann
Arbor where I was located this time there was zero storage space and
luckily I brought a bicycle and Fred was cruising back and forth the 2
blocks to our trailer with pots in a little gym bag over the
handlebars....ya do what ya gotta do......still can't believe I will
survive this trip......but at least I have a clayarter to visit at the
halfway point between here and there, will be staying with Sharon Miranda
in Oberlin. Now THAT is something I am really looking forward to.
Well this list just makes me go all warm and fuzzy, as usual. Such a
privilege it is. I remember I had this fantasy when i went to graduate
school of finding this wonderful community of potters. Back then it wasn't
even yet a glow in Richard/Joe's collective eye.......and now look what we
have, a real clay community.
Eleanora ..........drifting in my late night kiln-firing haze.

"Meet me in St. Louis, Louis. Meet me at the
fair"...
Dum-di-dum-di-dum
Just wondering if this fair is as old as the
song? Or is that a different fair? Please tell
us non Americans some historical background!
And have fun Y'all (which I am told is the
Official spelling :-)
Janet Kaiser - Oh dear... Got a feeling that is
now the recent "ear worm"... Is it better than
"We all live in a Yellow Submarine" provided by
some kiddies visiting The CoA today? They told
me they were singing an historical tune!!!
"Granny taught us, so it really is an old
historical song".
