meet me in st louis/reference to clay

Hi Janet,

There was a World's Fair in 1904 in St. Louis called the "Louisiana Purchase
Exposition". I have the book of photographs issued at that time. Poor old
book is coming apart at the spine, but all the pictures are fine. I got it
at a thrift shop for close to nothing. Maybe that is the fair the song
refers to.?

The only reference to clay I found in the book was: in the Egyptian exhibit
they mention " vases made of glass fused over clay, before glass-blowing was
known". Kind of interesting to speculate about the type of clay that would
support a glass melt, yet not shed flakes of clay. Then they'd have to get
the clay out of the vase later. Maybe it was mostly sand with just enough
clay to hold it together.
