Hello Carrie, After splitting and burning many cords of wood in Alaska =
for many years, I have found something truely wonderful.
A ventless relatively cheap wall hanging propaned heater. They come in =
varying sizes of BTU output, I got mine at=20
a Menards store for $129 last year. I've got a couple cheaply purchased =
100# tanks which can be switched off/on to my raku kilns. I can provide =
more data if necessary. =20
One other notation, if you should go with wood
you may wish to look into a "monster maul" If they still make em'. =
It's a wonderful tool for splitting wood. One swing, and usually that's =
all it takes to split some stump, (depending on the type of wood, and =
the ambient temperature). I always loved (for awhile) splitting wood =
when the temp got below zero. It's easier to split and Thoreau was =
correct in saying, "it'll heat you twice"
Good luck, Tom Eastburn
* Actually looking forwards to some cooler temperature's here in the =
Black Hills.
