grinding of pots

I have never ground on a pot - tho' I have had the odd glaze mis-hap.

For other things, I have used a 'poor-mans' Surface-Plate, which for me is a
piece of 3/8 or 1/2 inch Plate Glass, on which I put a sheet of Silicon
Carbide 'wet-or-dry' paper. It will stick on with just water.

I would Imagine the Wheel-Head of a Potter's Wheel, sans lugs,
would accept a sheet of Silicon-Carbide paper, with a bit of 3M Super 77
spray adhesive (clean up with Turpentine), grind with water, or soapy water.
Very low cost.

Or a special Bat could be made up, out of sturdy Corion (sp?) or similar,
spray glue Silicon Carbide paper to that, leave the lugs in your Wheel.
Other adhesives might be better, easier...these papers work best sopping
wet, so the adhesive should not be one which will dissolve from the water.

Just a thought.
