Subject: help with glazes
Hi, I am currenlty working in standard brown stoneware cone 4-6 in =
Oxidation. I would like to try a new line of glazes however, I am not =
sure where to begin. The pots that I am drawn to are the ones with =
different colors on them and when fired they all melt and move down the =
pot.( For example, the work of David Hendley) I have heard from other =
potters different techiniques.. I have tried slips with a transparent =
glaze overtop but the slips don't move, they look like underglazes with =
a clear transparent overtop. . Is there a glaze that I can use that =
causes the slips to blend together to show a more interesting effect. =
Is there just slips I can use that will act as glazes and melt together =
when fired? Is there some chemical I can add to either the slips or =
glaze that will make them move a little so I get a blended effect? Any =
help and recipes would be greatly appreciated. Kim Lust

hey jklust,
check out my site and see if you see any glazes you'd be interested i=
n, I've been working in cone6 oxidation for almost ten years. My best ad=
vice is, formulate a base glaze. Maybe a 4.3.2.1 glaze. Then go from th=
ere.
