comes in a 4x8 sheet.
it is glued to the stiff stuff,
(like plywood) for a counter.
makes a perfect curve if you hang it
from the ceiling and clamp it to a table.
can be rolled, or just slipped behind a bench when
not in use.

Clayarters:
Formica is in wide use as a backdrop. In fact, Tom Jenkins, photographer
for the Dallas Museum of Art, uses it to great effect in his work
documenting the exhibition currently on view at the DMA: "Tabletop to TV
Tray: China and Glass in America, 1880-1980." Tom's work is in the book
that accompanies the show.
I got a chance to meet Tom this summer when he graciously allowed me to
spend some time in the Museum's photo studio. Although the quarters are
somewhat cramped, they have the state of the art photo equipment. I was
especially interested in the digital scan back attachment for his view
camera.
My only criticism of Formica is the slight reflective surface. I prefer the
mat texture of seamless paper. Dick Lehman tells me he doesn't mind the
reflection on the black Formica he uses because it grounds the object on an
otherwise all black fore and background.
