mel-dude,

>> buy a sheet of gray formica..any home depot or such. 25 bucks. <<

I wasn't sure you meant formica? (maybe you meant melmac? ;-) If you're
going after the grail, get your facts straight first. I had thought I'd
read you say you could roll it.

All the formica I'd ever seen was thick and stiff. Sandy Miller and I
went on a quest for my "mythical formica" at a BIG (do they come in any
other size) Home Depot when I last visited the states (to see if this
was some special american formica). The guy there looked at us like we
were martians with antenna coming out of our heads. Had a good reason.

Now I understand about the true nature of Formica, thick, stiff,
breakable, can't take it in the plane as carry-on, etc.

We did discover some treasures along the way though.

- PVC cable saws make last forever cutoff wires with loopy handles. Come
in two grades as well.

- Floor vinyl makes a great, washable backdrop for shooting pots AND you
can roll it up!. At least I think it will make a good backdrop, have yet
to test it. Anyone have any idea how to make it a little less shiny?
(thought to take some VERY fine sand paper to it)

Russell,
Dulling spray from a specialist photography shop. you can control the
thickness. Sandign might remove the colour, it's thin.
