Dear Noel,
Try a Currie assessment tile with 50% bone ash and 50% Low Melt Spodumene
in the C corner. This set will love iron, iron and rutile, and
3rutile/1cobalt. Good Hunting! Hank

Hank,
Our supplier sells "Spodumene, Chemical (2% Iron)". Is that Low Melt
Spodumene? Do some suppliers carry two types? I looked on Tony Hansen's
Ceramic Materials Database, but it doesn't discuss different types.

Thanks, Holly
(Halfway through an Ian Currie workshop this morning, and very proud that I
know what Hank is talking about when he says to put these materials in the C
corner!)

Dear Holly;

Congratulations! You are going to be amazed at how many glazes you will
find on each tile. Meanwhile, start looking for some tasty materials out
there. Georgies in Portland, OR carries the Tanco Low Melt Spodumene, which
due to its amblygonite content has some phosphorus content. The Tanco stuff
is a great melter! The old Foote mierals spod is nice, and carries some
iron content. I have heard about an Australian spod; but do not know
anything about it yet. Maybe Ian can enlighten you on that. Cheers! Hank in
