I like the demo crowd response when I cut
the piece in half.

O I love demo throwing. It's especially fun when something COLLAPSES in
front of 50 people standing around.....(no, that was not a joke, it IS
funny.) I have learned to talk while throwing, and people ooooh and aaaaah.
Now what's hilarious is when folks come and see the 10 or so pots I've
thrown in the last 3 hours and say, "Wow, did you do all that
TODAY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

my first teacher, several years later told me that her secret for demo throwing was
to throw a little thicker than usual and that would give you a margin of error
because of not concentrating while describing what you are doing, and her pots
didn't collapse. and people who are not potters can't really see that you are
throwing 3/8 inch thick instead of 1/4 in thick.
