I have an old vase from my grandmothers house and since I put it on my mantle
in July it has started to shiver. For years it sat on my grandparents mantle
with a plant in it and never had a problem. The plant was in a protective
container inside of the pot, but on the inside of the pot there are some
mineral deposits (salts ?) from the plant. The vase looks like it's white
earthenware with brightly colored low fire glazes. It is approximately 80
years old. And this isn't normal glaze shivering - patches of clay pull off
with the glaze. I don't think it's a lime pop out since the area where this
is happening keeps growing. Also, the fireplace is not used and I live in
warm, relatively dry southern California. Any advice?
