I ask my beginning students to design and create a platter form which in
some way "fits" the content they will slip paint on it--the goal is to
mesh form and content.
When I saw Picasso's bull ring platters recently in a show I thought
what a clever way to use an oval plate form--aerial view of a bull
ring.
