I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to tell me their experiences, if
any, with the creative industries stools,ST1 and ST2. The first looks ver=
y
comfortable, but at a price, so I wanted to know how itr has worked for
anyone who owns one. I want to get something with a backrest, so this
seemed very good. Anyone used either of these for throwing?
Veena,
Sorry this is really an old topic.... but I am still catching up on readi=
ng
old CLAYART stuff.....
Hi. I have had one of the CI saddle-type stools for many years now (5
maybe) and love it. It is well padded and quite comfortable. When you
first sit on one, it'll feel weird. Give it a week and you'll wonder why=
no one invented it sooner .
The really nice feature of the stool is that the saddle angle can be
altered easily to adjust the pelvic tilt. You can set this so that it
helps maintain a curve in the lower spine....instead of the typical
"rounded back" posture somewhat common to sitting and throwing. I have
always tried to keep a more upright back posture when throwing...... and
this stool helps a lot.
I modified the back brace by bending the mount a little further forward
than it was designed so that it gives a little more support for certain
operations.

Nil's post reminded me that Ikea has a wonderful=3D20
plastic tractor seat stool on wheels for a low=3D20
price. The catalog lists one for $15.00, but it=3D20
seems to me the tractor seat one is less than=3D20
that--like $8.99 or something. Assembly required,=3D20
but it's height adjustable.
Calling an Ikea store in your vicinity might turn=3D20
one up. I've been using mine for a few years. A=3D20
bit trickey on the dismount--wheels you know, but=3D20
once you get the hang of it they can't be beat.
Cheers,
Jeanette

Not to diss IKEA, but watch out what you buy. I bought one of their
stools, more than $15 but I forget just how much, and one day I went to
sit down and it collapsed totally. Nearly gave myself concussion as I went
over backwards into the concrete wall. These assemble-it-yourself things
don't stand up to a lot of use.

I have a Shimpo stool at every wheel in the studio. They take a lick'n and
keep on tick'n. They are very adjustable, which I like as I like my stool t=
o
tilt forward.
