Synthetic Bone Ash is chemically precipitated and is used to some extent in ceramic
manufacture particularly in the Far East. HOWEVER manufacturers who use Synthetic
Bone Ash are in our experience very pro-active in eliminating it from their body
formulations in favour of Natural Bone Ash.
Natural Bone Ash is produced from animal bones, which are calcined at temperatures
in excess of 1150(superscript: o)C for one hour.
This processs converts the bone to the crystalline compound Hydoxyapatite and
renders it completely sterile, inert and totally free of all original animal
matter.
The Bone Ash is then milled, washed and dried at a temperature of 200(superscript:
o)C before incorporation in Bone China Body systems.
