Hi,
Here are 3 mort pictures of my kiln and work.
You wrote that you were firing a downdraft salt kiln
at school . can you please give me some details about
the school and if they have any program on saltglazing
I am much interested.
And where in The U.S. is this school
We have 4 huge downdraft kilns which are fired with
coal and they are very successful in their operation
even commercially.

Thanks
Bye
Vivek

Dear Vivek;

I do not fire the salt kiln at the University; but occasionally put some
pots in it. It is a very crude affair which is practically falling down.
They have an anagama which is also pretty crude, but the pots often come
out quite beautiful. I would say that the school's program is pretty light
in the area of saltglazing. The University is located in Eugene, Oregon,
where I live; and I would be glad to take you there for a tour; but fear
you will be dissappointed. Craig Martell is a much more active saltglazer.
I will query my potter friends to see who is actively salting in this
region. Cheers, Hank
