The rest of these glazes were fired under the same conditions as the =
others. They are all 50:50 mixtures of the glazes I've already =
presented, so I won't give recipes except in one special case.
I notice I had a lot less crazing, pinholes, etc. with these =
combinations. I selected glazes to combine using two criteria:
First, were they the same color? I combined the red glazes with each =
other, and likewise the white. Very scientific, eh?
Second, did I pick them up together?=20
As you can see, it was a rather random selection process. Here they are.
# 16 was a mixture of #6 and #15
Buttery clear gloss, very fat where thick. Bison fair, NVF
#17: mixture of RR-A and RR-C . . . already described in my last post.
#18: mixture of #7 & #2
Glossy, clear, very fat, bison poor, NVF
#19: mixture of #14 & 11
Clear bubbly gloss, bison fair, NVF
#20: mixture of #5 & 9
Dark brown to red brown, significant movement, significant dripping. =
Otherwise a gorgeous glaze with NVF.
#21: mixture of #3 & 9
Glossy, green to blond, clear with much crazing. Bison excellent, =
attractive movement.
#22: mixture of #4 & 10
Translucent dark amber gloss. NVF, bison excellent
#23: mixture of #8 & 10
Nearly identical to #22.
#24: mixture of #4 & 8
Redbrown to green with a satin to glossy surface. Unfortunately, there =
are pinholes. Bison good.
#25: mixture of #9 & 1
Hi-gloss, dark amber, significant crazing, bison good.
#26: mixture of #5 & 3
Deerpark base plus Harpersfield R 92
both from Zakin
"Deerharp" ^10
SILICA 10
SPODUMENE 18
BALL CLAY 46
REDART 62
DOLOMITE 64
IRON OX. RED 8
Si:Al 5.04
SiB:Al 6.64
Expansion 6.64
This one is my favorite. Dark red brown, frosty satin with a micaceous =
shine in the sunlight. Slight downward movement of black color. Some =
dripping where thick. Bison good.
#27: mixture of #11 & 6
Translucent white, fat, buttery gloss. Bison fair, orange at bottom =
border of glaze, NVF
# 28: mixture of #13 & 14
Bubbly semi-clear gloss. Fat. Bison clear, NVF.
#29: mixture of #12 and 7
Bubbly clear gloss, orange at glaze line, bison clear, NVF.
#30: mixture of #15 and 12.
Very nice fat white gloss. Bison poor, NVF.
I hope some of these will be of use, or at least, of interest to some of =
you. I'll be experimenting with color additions to some of these glazes, =
so I'll keep you posted.
