I am a high school student in Ceramics IV. I am experimenting with
different raku glazes and would like to make a matt glaze into a gloss
glaze. Is there anyway that I can do this?? One glaze in peticular that I
would like to change to gloss glaze is Hines Patina. The glaze is listed
below. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciated it. Thanks for
you time and effort.

Gerstley Borate 50

Dear Curtis

You can not really do that because the color and the opacity and the
texture are homogenous - change one property you change them all.

What I gather is you wish to maintain the color and opacity of the glaze
with a shiny surface. The way to go is to spray a stable ( non runny) clear
glaze on top - the thinnest of coats.

This is quite a usual practice with Raku. However the glaze may still be
unaceptabul. Do not make too much of it if nothing works. Acceptence !!
