For the person who asked for information about slumped glass.
I found an old issue of CM from the 1950's. It has an article about
slumped glass in it and I recall that they ran a glass article almost
every month during those years. (No, I'm not that old, I just saw a
bunch of old CM's once.)
The slumping article in the CM I have suggests using soft firebrick,
carved out, for the mold. (Dusted with clay before putting the glass on
it.)
But I think I remember from the Alfred glass studio (1988-89) that they
made molds for slumping from a 50/50 formula of plaster and silica
(flint, not sand). You could probably check that out with the Alfred
glass teacher.
