I am looking for some mondo aggregate/ grogg... I cant
seem to find it anywhere and the places that I have
found what says medium grogg is still iddiy biddy..
What I am looking for is crunchy like the grogg in
Paul Soldners clay.. Like the size of half a "Nerds"
candy or "Pop Rocks" anyone remember those?? : ) Half
of the size of the mini chicklets.. A little smaller
then grape nuts cereal..

Any direction where I can order this from??

Thankee-

Hi Anji:
I don't really know where you could get the specific grog you are
looking for, but I have a few thoughts...Coffee grounds-
vermiculite/perlite-sand-cereal:)

Buy coarse grog from a local brick factory. They will have
big piles of it and should be happy to let have some.
If you just need a mail-able amount and don't mind paying
postage, I'll mail you some from the barrels-full sitting
around that I got when a near-by firebrick factory closed.
It's too coarse for pottery, but sounds like just what
you want.

Hello anji!

Can try this: Mkae your own,the idea from the little book of potters idea of
C.M. Let say you work with light color claybody.
Take dark claybody, soft greenware, pass this sreen you pass the yellow
cheese for the pizza.Dry, fire and add to the light color claybody.
Dry the dark claybody and do the same.
* The next idea is from my good friend& edviser,Yehuda Koren: I never did
it, soak light grog in mattal salt and fire.
I did : soack in engob& fire.
Try adding basalt, but nott above^5.
The spelling tool of hotmail is too slow for me so I give it up

Don't know what cone you fire to but if low fire or don't mind the
melt in higher, try firing some kitty litter( ^05 or so). I fired a
bag of it in a large pot. Put it through some different mesh screens
to get rid of the size you don't want . I use this as part of a mix
for bonsai soil, (so used bonsai soil screens) Looks like orange low
fire earthenware clay when fired, even though the k litter was gray.
