Brenda,
I've been using (trying to use) Laguna clay and glazes for quite a while.
Only because that's what the local supplier carries. I've been using their
cone 5 B Mix mainly along with their dry and premixed glazes. The clay
slumps and warps very badly and there are very few of the glazes that come
out ok.
Laguna has been very bad about responding to inquires about problems. Their
reply is usually that they haven't had problems.

It sounds like a bad batch of clay. During the my couple of years with
Laguna I do not recall any systematic problems with the Moroccan Sand series
and any of their cone 5 - 6 clay bodies. That you do not make functional
ware opens the door to most all of Laguna's products. Their sandy bodys
have trouble not getting damp on the bottom: this shouldn't be a problem
unless you are making flat-bottomed vases, pitchers, or long term liquid
holding wares.

Regarding their customer service, get used to it. For fear of sounding like
a disgruntled, ex-employee, I'll leave it at that (truthfully, I'm not; but
my experience with them, in business, and a masters in economics give me a
very poor opinion regarding the way that operation is run). They do have
some good products.

Brenda, I use the laguna b-mix at cone 5/6 and have had problems with
pinholing for a long time. i don't use their glazes, i make my own and what i
ended up doing was a cone 04 bisque, large cone, not the kilnsitter and then
doing a longer glaze firing, preheat over night, on med. for 6 hours and then
on high. i use lg. cones and fire untill cone 5 is all the way over and cone
6 is about a third over then i turn the kiln off. i called laguna several
times and really did not get that much help from them. i called jeff zamek
and ha was a big help. his ad is in ceramics monthly.
