Hope this is enough info:Kiln is a Shimpo Cone Art Kiln,autofire,28x27,phase
3-208 voltage, one year old, used in teaching -fired to cone 6 approx. every
two days during Nov and Dec,and April and May, less hectic use rest of year.
Coils are the size that fits into 1/2 inch grooves. Coils are popping out of
grooves near the floor, coils on floor are fine. The flattening occurs in
the part of the groove that is slanted so the coil goes from one level to
another.
There is a second kiln that has been used to the same degree, same specs as
the other except it is manual and is 4 years old.A lot of these coils are
flattened in a diagonal direction in areas in addition to the slanted ones.
The concern is that the first kiln may end up in this condition if students
and teachers are opening the newer one too soon. The second one still fires
okay at cone 6.Thanks for your help.
I know someone had replied asking for this info but in my lack of skill with
the computer I seem to have wiped out the name of the person and the
address. Sorry!!
