I have posted a 16 page electronic kiln troubleshooter at Paragon's revised
website. You are welcome to use the troubleshooter. I hope it makes your
electronic kiln easier to understand.
The troubleshooter is for Paragon kiln controllers (DTC 100, 600, 800, 1000
series). Most of the information will apply to other brands, too.
I welcome your ideas for improving the troubleshooter and any other comments.

Electrical Power Problems:
Controller display does NOT turn on. No heat in kiln.
Controller display turns on. No heat in kiln.
Kiln fires too slowly or will not reach temperature.
Some elements do not fire.
Kiln heats unevenly.
Circuit breaker trips or circuit fuse blows.
Kiln connection box fuse blows. (Heavy amperage kilns.)
Kiln switch box ½ amp fuses keep blowing.
Wall outlet gets too hot.
Temperature Problems:
Controller reads wrong temperature.
The kiln overfires.
The display shows erratic temperature readings.
The display remains stuck.
Display digits burn out (parts of display missing).
Noises:
The relay chatters or buzzes.
The controller keeps beeping.
Error Messages:
PF or ErrP during firing.
