Well! You may have just come up with THE ANSWER to what to do with those
seconds! Take 'em out into the road, the 25 mph road in front of the house,
the one where people drive at 55 mph and you are so far out in the country
that no cop will ever pay any attention, that is, until the kid gets hit, or
enough pets die out there, you know that road... take the seconds out into
the middle of the road and smash them with a hammer, just leaving enough
room for a slowly moving car to go by... Or better yet, take 'em out in the
middle of the road and just stand 'em up out there. Who KNOWS what would
happen??

Our neighbors have contemplated piano wire across Big Hill Road, our road,
to stop the ATVers who drive, I am not kidding, 55 mph up our road, which
comes to a dead end like, 100 yards past the house.

Okay, on this theme of agressive use of seconds, We are considering building a
small catapult to deal with the people who come around the corner, onto our street,
accelerating ( the street is three blocks long, 1 block to the left and 2 blocks to
the right , a double cul de sac) and the kids playing street hocky scatter trying
to get out of the way before it gets to them. The fireing pattern and corrections
could be reckoned by the retired military dads on the block.

Millie in MD, I really am a pacifist at heart, at least I will be after I get rid
of all these crazed driver

tee hee hee! What a great idea! Unfortunately, I live in the historic district in
my small town, and on the main throughfare for the fire trucks...and if I don't mow
my lawn frequently enough, the neighbors look askance at me, so shards in the
street are a definite no-no. But it's a fine idea! Love it!

Maybe we should channel more of our energy in the comic direction,
a la' "101 uses for a dead cat." I like the speed-bump-with-teeth
idea. Along the same lines, after the first rains around here we
start to see some nasty pot holes. Did he say, "pot holes"? Now
there's a use for seconds which everyone can appreciate. -- Lee Jaffe
