Does anyone have suggestions for substitutions for
barium carbonate? I love the satiny look of low to
mid fire glazes with BC, but I want to avoid the
toxicity when handling.
I have seen strontium in glaze recipes as a
substitute. 100 gr barium carbonate equals 74.8
grams strontium. Does this make sense?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

As A substitute for turquoise, it works good, does not work for the
"shocking pink" based on barium. You are right about the amount of the
substitution
