Pete,

I thought about your pink problem and I reread you original post.

Since your glaze turned out OK in some of the kiln it is not the recipe
that is a problem. Therefore it must be the temperature, reduction cycle
or rate of heating/cooling. But once again since some turned out OK it
is probably not the reduction cycle or the rate of heating/cooling.
Unless you have some really uneven spots in the kiln. So, it must be
the temperature. What cone did you reach? What is the glaze? Are you
still firing in the Alpine updraft?

If the glaze you are using is Pete's Copper Red, then I think you did not
get it hot enough. That is if it is matt and slightly bubble and is an
opaque pink-red. I have had this problem with Pete's on the bottom shelf
where it did not get hot enough.

If it is transparent pink and is fully matured, (i.e. Transparent with
light streaks of blue) then it is probably over reduction of a talc
containing glaze.

In my amateur opinion,
