I just use old pieces of broken kiln shelves in mine. They work great!

Well, one way to pose the question is to take measurements of you kiln space
and ask where you can obtain shelves of a certain size and composition.
Kiln shelves come in all sizes, shapes and material. I'm sure the perfect
one is out there waiting.
If you still want to 'make the shelf' literally, then one of the self
sufficient guru's will help.
