Some time ago, Brent had some less then perfect motors on their wheels and
replaced them with thier current ones from another vendor.
We ended up replacing those less than perfect DC motors with the newer
ones. Took the older ones to a motor shop and had them rebuilt, some with
minor work others with a bit more work.
We purchased some DC speed controllers from Graingers, about $100 back then
and used them in combination with the motors to build motorized equipment
around the shop such as buffing machines for seams, motorized banding
wheels, etc etc..
You can also purchase motors, foot pedals, and speed controllers directly
from Brent.
Remember that on DC motors you can vary the voltage and hence change the
RPMs of the motor. Can't do this with AC motors. While there are ways to do
this on AC motors, they really are quite inferior. I have seen some pretty
cheesy rheostats on squirel cage blowers for kiln burners. Not very
adequate. The solution here is to use a manual butterfly valve after the
blower to vary the volume of air and just let the blower run full.
