Dear Alisa,
Thanks so much for posting all your Cone 6 glaze tests. I've been testing
and testing for months and have only one or two that have proved suitable.
I'll have to test some of your recipes in my kiln and see how they work.

What a treasure we have in all the work that Alisa is doing. To add three
more suggestions for additional answers to the tests, you might paint a
stripe of iron oxide horizontally to see if the glaze moves during the
firing. I call this a "slide". The second additional test would be to add
an indented texture to the bowl that will tell you how the glaze appears on
such decorations at the edges. I also dip a little differently and that
is to go deep for the first few seconds, then pull it half way out for an
additional couple of seconds. I usually have trouble with the glaze crawling
if I dip twice. The third tip is to use two or more clay bodies, such as
light stoneware, one with some iron and a porcelain. You will be surprised
at the different effects you get with different clays. As a final step, I
put the remainder of the test glazes all in one bucket and have a go with
glazing for the fun of it, just to see what will happen. Better use extra
kiln wash or a saucer under the pots or test tiles. Or you could only glaze
the inside of the bowls.
Happy testing and thank you Alisa.
