Lois,
The largest size of platter or bowl I can fit in my kiln is about 15". I
do not have a problem with cracks. I place the ware, whether for bisque or
glaze, on silica sand. I also leave at least a 1 1/2" space away from the
electric coils. Wish I could give you more advice. You seem to be doing
nothing wrong that I can see. Mia in ABQ
