Cindy, just as an aside to your post, can you recommend a good digital
camera that has tested well for taking pictures of pots?

I know my name is not Cindy, but I can't help jumping in here. I am the
very happy owner of an Olympus Camedia 20/20 digital camera; it does
everything I want it to, quickly, simply, with very clear instructions.
The software that comes with it is easy to use (for me), and altogether
it has revolutionised the photographing of my pots. The only bit that I
do not use is the direct cable connexion to my p c; I purchased instead
a floppy disk adapter into which I can insert the smart media card,
enabling me to transfer my pictures via windows explorer. The only
caveat that I would add is that constant use of the little screen on the
back results in very flat batteries very quickly! so I use it sparingly.
I use four alkaline AA rechargeable batteries, they last longer!

John,
I began using the Nikon 880 this summer and am quite satisfied with the
quality. As a former 35mm photographer I had to get to used to the different
ways of setting light readings. Did alot of bracketing and exposure testing
using a white and gray card and found that I got really good images with teh
setting on VGA fine. I then bring the image inot photshop reduce the size
and publishe it to my web site. If you want to check on the quality prety
much everything in my "new Work" section of my web site was shot this way.
You will also be see thelearning curve I had due to the variations in
exposures. Look especially at my butter dishes I think all were shot this
way.
At some point I will probably break down and get a NiIkon 990 just so I can
have more familiar exposure control. My web address is:

Hope this helps. A good resource is Imaging resource at
