Has anyone ever heard of, or used, Georgia Red Brick clay? Is there a
substitute for it? Redart maybe? It is in a clay recipe I found. I am
assuming it is just a high iron red clay. Thanks.

Once Ray Merrit of Lizella, Gerogia sold a Gerogia Red Clay to schools and
individuals. I have not used that clay in a long time but it was a deep
brown when dry and a dark brick red when fired to cone 9.

Hello, everyone:
I live 12 minutes from the pottery mentioned below. They are listed in
Lizella as Lizella Clay Company.

It has been a few years since we used this clay often, but I would be glad
to contact them for you and save a toll phone call. I don't think they are
online. Their phone number is (478) 935-8389. (Our area code just changed
from 912 but it still works until next year)
Their address is
470 Pottery Road
Lizella, GA 31052

Contact me offline if you need to
mail to: dmead@mds.macon.ga.us

Sincerely,
Diane Mead
