electric gas kiln...throwing in my hat

Hi Mel, my ITC arrived today, my elements are ordered, and I'm trying to
"contain myself" as Gram would say!

I plan on converting my old Skutt 231 and think from the posts that a bunsen
burner may not be powerful enough. Called Ward's and he told me that a
burner with 5,000-6,000 BTUs should be enough to create reduction in this
kiln; the local kiln builder thought I should have a burner of 35,000 to
40,000 BTUs, but tells me he can give me one that will fire with as little
gas as I wish and safety controlls. Is the sketch you posted on your webpage
the answer to a kiln larger than a 181, such as mine?

I can't thank you enough for sharing all of this research about gas electric
kilns. You've made this little ol' lady very happy. Reduction firing again
after all these years, and in my own back yard! I'm moving out the Florida
patio furnishings, and building an outside shelter to keep the rain off. I
feel 15 years younger.

You're doing a great job as moderator also... I've noticed people are
blossoming (as well as sometimes exploding!) in their posts. Lori
