If any of you are potters in Kauai, would you please email me off list?

I am planning a trip there in a few weeks, and would love some suggestions
about
all the wondrous things to do there during the 10 day visit.

Thank you!
Susan

Hi Susan,

I am a potter who lived and worked on Kaua'i for 7 years, 5 years ago, and have
just returned to reestablish myself here on the island I love so well. I may join
my friend Dean at his north shore studio, or not. Having broken my thumb for the
second time in three years last summer, I'm hip that it will likely be as long as
6 more months before I can throw comfortably again.

When do you arrive and where do you plan on staying? Know that renting a car is
essential! What sort of things are you interested in?

It is the rainy season - aka hurricane season and you might find it too windy and
wet to camp. A helicopter ride is costly but spectacularly breathtaking for 45
minutes. There are most stunning day hikes, or longer ones, and plenty of scuba
and snorkeling expeditions to sign on for. This is advised, as certain beaches are
better for one or the other, or need to be avoided on account of sharks! The
whales may even still be around - I'll check. There are loads of excellent
galleries, but for the clay perspective you should definitely visit Dean. Let me
know if he's responded to your post and if not I will call him.

Right now I am deep in the process of relaunching my life here, finding
employment, awaiting the arrival of my van, trying to decide where in paradise I
most want to settle. For now I am staying with a dear friend down on the south
shore in Kalaheo. Look forward to hearing from you...

Aloha!
Christen Aaron
